Playing the test piece “Earthquake” by Lord Kitchener and the last year’s winning panorama song “Pinocchio”, both arranged by Tillal Webb, Sion Hill totaled 253 points, behind Antigua/Barbuda 275 and host Dominica 264.

Grenada, St. Kitts/Nevis and Montserrat followed in that order.

Chairman of the Sion Hill outfit and the President of the Youlou Pan Movement (YPM) Warren Knights who journeyed to Dominica, disclosed that the young pannists acquitted themselves well in the highly competitive event staged at the Botanic Gardens, Roseau.

Knights said that the concept of the competition augurs well for the development of the art form in the sub-region since it gave the Under 16’s a feel of playing competitively among their peers from other countries.

Sion Hill copped the local junior title for the past three years and according to Knights, the beaver-trick is on the band’s agenda.

He said that the band’s juniors and senoirs are busily getting their act together for the Panorama competition.

The community-based band is celebrating 25 years of existence.
