Gala performance closes Gospel Fest

Nicolas Bartholomew and LeNea Richardson will be representing St. Vincent and the Grenadines at the Barbados Gospel Festival later this month. The two dancers won the Most Outstanding Performance in the Digicel SVG Gospel Fest awards ceremony held recently.{{more}}

Nicolas and LeNea from Kingdom Life Tabernacle, got the judges nod over Lafay Francois from Sandy Bay Gospel Chapel and Daniella Richards from Maranatha Singers.

They won the Duet category in Dance. Nicolas had already proven his flexibility having won the Solo title.

Another big achiever at the awards ceremony was Brent Williams also from Kingdom Life Tabernacle. He beat Valencia Lavia and Hazel Thompson both from Sion Hill Mission to take the Outstanding Event.

The Barrouallie Evangelical Youth Group copped the Most Original Composition with their Skit “Family Tales.”

They also won the Chorale segment.

Lafay Francois made the best of the Sermonette, ahead of Margarita Ells from the Deliverance Baptist Church, and Valencia Lavia.

Shalom Theatre from Faith Temple won the best Skit, beating KLT Drama from Kingdom Life Tabernacle and Salvation Army Drama Club.

Kamaro Williams and Sherman Bailey from the Kingdom Life Tabernacle took the Stand-up Comedian segment, displacing Elon Kennedy from Faith Temple and Fidel Taylor from Vermont Miracle Tabernacle.

Caldon Charles from Enhams Church of the Nazarene was adjudged Best Monologue, and the Poetry section was taken by Silma Duncan from the Seventh Adventist Church.

The Super Kidz for Jesus from the Worldwide Mission Spring Village won the Group Dance category.

Alive from the Faith Temple took the Instrumental version of the Band category, and Eden from the Kingdom Life Tabernacle eclipsed Christ’s Advocate and New Generation from South Leeward to take the Band segment.

The Choir went to the SBGC Pioneers from the Sandy Bay Gospel Chapel and the Roberts Trio from that same church took the Group category.

Brent Williams and Tamara Jackson won the Duet in the Over 19 Song segment, with Ava Patrick from the Wesleyan Holiness Church Georgetown taking the Over 19 Solo category. Janelle Thomas won the 13 to 19 Solo, and Daniella Richards won the Solo Under 13 segment.

On a night appropriately named for the presentation of awards secured during the month long festival, a number of performers were given the chance to show their talent.

They included Kemora Bynoe, Church of God Youth Chorale, The Roberts Trio, Elohim Dancers, Canda Derrick with a monologue called “Mystical transformation,” and Elon Kennedy.

But perhaps the event that brought the house down was the mixed duo Nicole Bailey and David Lohyna with a dance called “Unconditional.”

The quintet Eternity with a rendition of “On the resurrection morning,” gained the crowd’s approval with their harmony. They had already endeared themselves with the national anthem.
