Blues festival kicks off next Wednesday

Beginning Wednesday, January 18, and continuing until Wednesday, February 1, 2006, Basil’s Bar in Mustique, becomes the House of Blues once again.

The Basil’s Bar Blues Festival in Mustique is world famous, thanks to 11 straight years of serving up some of the best blues in the Caribbean, and since last year’s surprise guest sensation, Mick Jagger, anticipation is high for the shows of this year’s festival.{{more}}

On the final night of the Basil’s Bar Blues Festival in 2005, Mick Jagger, long time Mustique resident, made a surprise appearance, and performed and recorded two songs. Those songs were released internationally as part of the live recordings of the 2005 shows.

Confirmed to perform at Basil’s Bar Blues Festival in 2006 are Luddie Sams, Jerimiah Marques, Pete Nash, Lewis Fielding, Little George, Jeff ‘Hideaway’ Bridges, Corrinna Greyson, Dana Gillespie, The London Blues Band of: Dino Baptiste, Evan Jenkins, Mike ‘Birdman’ Paice, Jeff Walker, and Jack Zaitz.

The Basil’s Bar Blues Festival will perform nightly in Mustique at Basil’s Bar, making a single appearance in Bequia on January 20, 2006. Shows begin each night at 9, except for Sundays when Basil’s Bar Mustique hosts its famous Sundowner Blues Concert beginning at 5.

All proceeds from the Basil’s Bar Blues Festival go to the Basil Charles Education Foundation – a charity dedicated to helping Vincentian children further their education. Over the years, more than thirty families have benefited from funds raised by the festival and sale of the CDs. Recordings of previous Mustique Blues Festivals will be available at each show.
