Alisha is Miss GHS Heritage

Beauty, brains and of course spectacular talent were just some of the things which greeted patrons at the Peace Memorial Hall on Friday night October 28, when the St. Vincent Girls’ High School held its annual Independence Miss Girls’ High School (GHS) Heritage Pageant.

Okera Alexander, Nicole Samuel, Kendra Samuel, Austincia Solomon, Anna Nelson, Gabriella Kydd and Alisha Browne were the seven beauties who graced the stage that night vying for the title of Miss GHS Heritage 2005.{{more}}

Each contestant competed in three categories: talent, national dress and interview.

Alisha Browne won the talent section with a very humorous dramatization of cassava production in St. Vincent; Kendra Samuel left the crowd in awe with her beautiful national dress depicting “beauty all around St. Vincent and the Grenadines” and Austincia Solomon grabbed the interview with her flawless responses.

Not surprisingly these girls went on to take the top three positions. Second runner-up was Kendra Samuel, first runner-up Austincia Solomon and taking the top place was Alisha Browne, who was clearly the crowd’s favourite as they burst into loud cheers each time she was on stage. The crowd went wild when she was crowned by the winner of last year’s pageant Kimesha Bailey, who clearly left a lasting impression on the crowd.

The night was not all pageantry, as performances from Dance Groups such as the Avenue Dancers and Heavy Hittaz “hyped” the large crowd of over three hundred (300). The GHS models, who were well prepared by the Image Models, showed that they may soon be able to rival this fashion house.

Soca Monarch 2004 and O.E.C.S Soca Monarch 2005, Bomani, treated the excited teen-aged audience to an unforgettable performance.

The night was truly one which would be remembered by the appreciative audience that challenged the capacity of the venue. This showed that the show was clearly an undeniable success.
