Home made Butter
I REMEMBER AS A CHILD one of my aunts showed my cousins and I how to make butter from fresh cow’s milk. It was incredible how easy it was so I will let you know how we did it. I’m sure there are other ways to do it as well.
You will need:
Fresh milk from a cow or goat A glass bottle with a lid Some ice cubes Salt Container to store the butter
Method:
You scald the fresh milk as you normally would to kill any bacteria. As the milk cools and leaves that creamy thick film at the top, scoop that into the bottle and add ice cubes.
You then shake the bottle vigorously until you see a separation. The butter will start to clump together and leave behind the liquid. Once you see it has all clumped together, you take it out of the bottle and wash it in a bowl of cold water. It is very important to use cold water as any heat will melt the butter.
Once that is done you can add a pinch of salt (optional), and place it in a container to refrigerate.
And just like that you have healthy butter that has no additional bad ingredients and at very little cost. Feel free to google other methods of making home made butter.
