Packed event for launch of Vincy Mas tomorrow

THE LAUNCH OF the 41st edition of Vincy Mas will take place tomorrow Saturday May 5, at Victoria Park beginning from 7 p.m.

But, before the Victoria Park event, activities will be held throughout the day starting from 10 a.m. with whistle stops on both the Leeward and Windward side of the island. Xtreme 104.3 FM will handle the Windward side of the island with entertainment, while VC3 and “DJ Niko” will provide entertainment on the Leeward side.

During the day also, the Cruise Ship Terminal on Upper Bay Street will come alive with the “Junior Fete World”. This will be filled with activities including performances by the junior soca and calypso bards, the school bands from Sandy Bay and the St Vincent Grammar School and steel bands. Several up and coming Soca artistes will also entertain.

The street parade begins at 5 p.m. There will be pan-around-the-neck musicians, “Boosie Back”, “Moko Jumbie” or stilt men, mas men and the 2018 Miss St Vincent and the Grenadines contestants among others. Also, former Miss SVG contestants will take part in the parade. The Carnival Development Corporation’s (CDC) float and the rural queens will also be a feature. During the parade, disc jockeys from Xtreme FM will provide entertainment.

During the Victoria Park segment of the launch, which is expected to start at 7 p.m., FLOW DJs, DJ Beds and DJ Q will entertain, and performances will come from calypsonians Sulle and Lord Have Mercy.

Other performers include Nickie, Chewalee, Bomani, Shaunelle McKenzie, Dynamite, L Pank and Hance John.

FLOW will also launch its Carnival Monday band and this launch will feature the FLOW Heavy Hitters Rondy “Luta” McIntosh and Delroy “Fireman” Hooper. Mason, Dymez and Pixel will also perform.
