Help me save my friend

I just want to thank you for the sound advice you gave to me; I really appreciate it. Well, this time, the problem does not concern me, but rather a friend of mine. I have been friends with this girl for about five years. It has been a very rough road because of conflicts that arose in our friend circle, but we made it.{{more}}

Ever since I met her, she has been the type to run after the wrong guys, and become obsessed. She shows symptoms of mental instability like depression and confusion. I found out about a year ago that she is dating a homie of mine. The thing is, this young man has a history of manipulating girls for what he wants and I can vividly see that he is doing it to her. Our other friends and I tried countless times to bring reality to her, but she has been completely deceived. PLEASE HELP US SAVE HER!!!!!!

It’s very commendable that you are looking out for this young lady, but you know that sometimes we can try to reason with someone on many different levels, but if they are hell bent on doing something, there is nothing that we can do about it.

I am also concerned that you mention that she suffers from some emotional struggles — this can be very serious. Maybe if you are close to a family member you can suggest that she seeks some sort of one-on-one counselling. This could also help open her up to other issues that are troubling her as well.

At the end of the day, you can be in someone’s corner as their friend, giving them encouragement and being a listening ear. But it is up to that person to take that major step to create change in their life for the best. There is nothing else you can do about it.

Just continue being a loyal and trustworthy friend; she will need you in the long run. I am proud of you for looking out for her.
