New location sought for Sandy Bay Secondary School
The Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines has turned to the residents of Sandy Bay to make an input into the future of the new Sandy Bay Secondary School.
It engaged residents earlier this week in a community consultation to select a permanent home for the institution which was relocated following the 2021 eruption of La Soufrière volcano. The construction of the new school is part of an EC$73 million School Improvement Project, funded by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).
The public consultation hosted by the Ministry of Education, was held at the Sandy Bay Government School on August 25, 2026, and addressed the permanent relocation of the school, which is currently operating in temporary facilities at Mt. Young in Georgetown, and also outlined future academic and curriculum goals for the community.
Speaking at the consultation, Project Manager Dimitri Samuel said the school improvement project involves the renovation of eight schools and the construction of the Sandy Bay Secondary School.
