Fired policeman wins case in court, lawsuit for state coming
Former Police Constable Phillip Arrindell, has been freed from a charge of theft, but his legal battles may not be over as his lawyer Grant Connell said he has initiated a legal challenge against the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF).
Arrindell was charged that between March 16 and 19, 2026, between Kingstown and Calliaqua (while being a police officer) he stole one black Suzuki vehicle key valued EC$1,500 the property of Jadiel Riffin of Villa.
When he appeared in Court on Tuesday August 18, 2026, he heard that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had withdrawn the matter.
Arrindell’s matter had originally been set for trial on Tuesday May 12, 2026 at the Calliaqua Magistrate’s Court, but when it came up, Arrindell’s lawyer said he did not have full disclosure on the matter involving his client.
As a result of the delays, Magistrate John Ballah on that day (May 12), gave a final adjournment, stressing that he is serious when it comes to managing the court’s time. When the case came up for hearing on August 18,2026, the prosecution was not ready and Arrindell was freed of the charge.
