Child injured in minibus fracas, driver and conductor taken into custody
AWAVE OF PUBLIC OUTRAGE is sweeping across St.Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), following the circulation on social media of a viral audio clip and graphic images detailing a violent altercation involving a minibus conductor and a young child.
The widely shared audio, which was posted online on August 23, 2026, features a male voice, purported to be a local minivan conductor, describing a heated dispute on a minibus that ultimately escalated and resulted in a primary school-aged child receiving injuries to her mouth and forehead.
Photographs accompanying the audio show a young girl with a cut to her forehead and blood running down her face, while a subsequent image shows the child with medical bandages applied over her head.
According to the audio recording, the conflict arose when a female passenger requested that the music in the van be turned down.
The man in the audio said he thought she was asking for the music to be turned down because she wanted to make a phone call or for another practical reason, but instead, she began cursing the driver.
