Prime Minister Friday Welcomes Rescued Fishermen Following Nine-Day Ordeal at Sea

KINGSTOWN, ST.VINCENT and the Grenadines — On Thursday, July 23, 2026, Prime Minister Dr. Godwin Friday has commended the “extraordinary resilience of five (5) fishermen who survived nine days adrift at sea after a devastating fire destroyed their Trinidad and Tobago-registered fishing vessel.

He met with the men at The Cobblestone Inn and praised them for their courage, discipline, and determination throughout the life-threatening ordeal. Prime Minister Friday also extended condolences to the survivors on the death of one of their crew members, 66 year old Anthony Murray of Trinidad and Tobago, who succumbed after the group was rescued.
