NDP a dictatorship in the making – Dr Gonsalves
OPPOSITION LEADER and former Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves believes that the New Democratic Party (NDP) is a “dictatorship in the making,” and said he was displeased with their lack of courtesy displayed during a recent parliamentary sitting.
The critique related to the April 21, 2026 sitting, the first since the 2026 National Budget was passed.
Speaking on Star FM, Gonsalves asserted that the government’s team showed a distinct lack of respect and decorum during the proceedings.
He further contended that after just seven months in office, the New Democratic Party (NDP) administration has already lost the trust and confidence of the Vincentian people.
“Notice the word trust… trust is the fuel, the grace. Trust is the tie that binds leadership- a government to the people, to the governed, and when that is broken, all fall down, that’s why there’s a crisis of governance in this country.”
