James takes legal action against the State on behalf of mentally ill man
LAWYER, AND FORMER government minister, Carlos James, is moving to take legal action against the State, and has issued a formal letter of notice to the Attorney General in this regard.
KENTON HARRIS following the March 11, 2026 alleged attack by RSVGPF officers
James is acting on behalf of Kenton Harris, “a person of disability” of Lodge Village, “through his litigation friend and mother, Ms. Anesta Harris-Robinson”.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 James pointed out that Harris “is a vulnerable patient, meaning that he has a mental challenge”.
Harris is said to suffer from chronic psychiatric mental health challenges and is legally incapable of managing his own affairs, therefore rendering the State’s custodial duties absolute.
James said the intended claim arises out of three separate incidents by officers of the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines police force (RSVGPF) while Harris was in their custody and fully restrained.
He outlined that on May 21, 2026, Kenton Harris’s matter became the centre of public attention, following a video which went viral that showed an incident which took place just outside Coreas, in which police officers were seen physically attacking and beating Harris.
