Cruise Ship and Ferry Berth lease a great idea says Tourism Minister
THE DECISION by the government of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), to enter into a 30 year lease agreement of the Cruise Ship and Ferry Berth with Global Ports Holdings (GPH), makes perfect sense and will benefit the people of SVG, and save government millions. This is the conclusion of Minister of Tourism, Dr. Kishore Shallow which he articulated on a recent radio discussion programme.
“We are not doing things in isolation, that is why we have launched the Love SVG campaign initiative… because we realized we need to improve our product, and so we are embarking on identifying 100 projects to be improved before the new tourist season starts,” Shallow said on WE FM’s Activated morning programme on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
“…that wasn’t just coincidental. It’s because know that we are entering these solid partnerships, and know that we’ll have to be at a better stage of preparation to facilitate more passengers.”
On Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at Cabinet Room, Prime Minister Dr. Godwin Friday, said his New Democratic Party (NDP) administration and GPH Chairman Mehmet Kutman, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to lease the Cruise Ship and Ferry Berth to GPH for 30 years.
