Paperless Customs operations move closer to reality
The launch of the upgraded ASYCUDA World 4.4.0 system has replaced paper-based processes with a fully digitized infrastructure designed to administer approvals, inspections and payments concurrently in real-time within the government system.
The official launch was held yesterday on Monday, June 8, 2026 at the Customs and Excise Department, and forms part of the ongoing Caribbean Digital Transformation Project (CARDTP). The upgrade also supports the broader implementation of the Vincy Single Window for Trade (VSWIFT) initiative, which aims to simplify and modernize trade-related services across the country.
Providing an overview of the upgrade, National Project Officer for VSWIFT, Krislin Goulbourne-Harry, explained that the enhanced system lays the groundwork for the eventual creation of a paperless customs environment.
“Paperless does not necessarily mean that we are going to go paper free at once but we are eventually getting there,” she noted.
