Mother seeks help to locate her 39-year-old son
The mother of a missing man, Rolando Samuel, is making an emotional appeal to the public for assistance as she anxiously awaits information about her son’s whereabouts.
Donna Samuel, who currently resides in Canada, said she only recently learned of her son’s disappearance after relatives here in St Vincent contacted her. The worried mother said family members had initially withheld the information from her because they knew how concerned she would become.
“I didn’t really know anything concerning his disappearance…they didn’t tell me anything because they know I will worry”, she told SEARCHLIGHT.
Samuel said the last time she communicated with her 39-year-old son was on Mother’s Day. Since then, she had not heard from him, and was unaware that anything was amiss until receiving a phone call from a relative. She said it was her aunt Yevonne who contacted her from St Vincent on Sunday, May 31, 2026, to inform her of the situation.
“The last time my aunt saw him was the 21st of May and he asked her for some cooking oil, and my aunt gave it to him”.
According to Samuel, the aunt told her that Rolando had indicated that he planned to travel the following day to the Grenadines, but did not know what time he left.
The mother said the aunt came back and told her “he went to Grenada on a speed boat and had some issues with the engine”. Samuel said that efforts have already been made to report the matter to authorities in St Vincent and the Grenadines, and that her sister tried calling the police in Grenada but was not successful.
The mother said she continues to call her son’s phone in the hopes that he will answer or return her messages. “All up to yesterday I was calling and I keep leaving messages…this is not Rolando, even though I called him and he missed the call he will call me back,” she said.
