Designer proud of her ‘Royal Symphony’ gown
Fashion designer Shernicia Mayers’s Instagram page says “sketching dreams into reality” and “creating beauty through design”.
And if one were to look at the evening gown she designed for the 2026 Miss St Vincent and the Grenadines/Miss SVG pageant, you would agree with the Instagram post.
Mayers is currently celebrating a major milestone in her career as her creation, the “Royal Symphony” gown, amassed the most points and captured the winning title at the 2026 Miss SVG Pageant which was held on Saturday, May 30 at Independence Park.
The gown was worn by second place winner, N’Zinga De Roché (Miss Republic Bank). De Roché won Best Evening Wear, and Best in Evening Wear, with third place in the pageant Lourie John, tying with De Roche for Best Evening Wear.
Mayers, a Georgetown native who runs her business from the Belvedere B Street, told SEARCHLIGHT that she has been involved in the Miss SVG three times prior to 2026, but this time is obviously more meaningful as it marked the first time one of her gowns has won at the prestigious national pageant.
Designing since the age of nine, the victory was especially meaningful to the 39-year-old designer whose only competition was the other six gowns designed by the same person, Lisa Cordice of “irockposhelle”.
Explaining the gown, Mayers said the elaborate design was inspired by a flower, featuring a dramatic arrangement of petals flowing from the back of the garment. Crafted primarily from brocade fabric, Mayers said the gown demanded countless hours of meticulous work.
