SVG/Cuba Friendship Society hands over donation for Cuba
THE SVG-Cuba Friendship Society delivered a donation of EC$19,000 for the Cuban people as part of a humanitarian initiative promoted by the organization in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).
Cuba was plunged into total darkness in March when the US Government slapped an oil embargo on the harassed Spanish-speaking nation and an outdated, overworked national electricity grid failed.
.As a result, the SVG Cuba Friendship Society announced that it is reactivating its bank account which was used in the past to deposit funds for humanitarian assistance to Cuba during periods of crisis, such as during damage from hurricanes, and the COVID-19 pandemic. The funds were collected, and equipment Cuba’s Ambassador to St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), Carlos Ernesto Rodríguez Etcheverry conveyed his appreciation to all Vincentians who participated in this initiative. The funds were handed over to the Ambassador on Friday, May8, 2026 at the Embassy at Ratho Mill.
