Mixed package rolled out at 2026 North Leeward Carnival launch
NORTH LEEWARD OFFICIALLY launched its 2026 Carnival on Saturday, April 9, 2026, at the Chateaubelair Playing Field under the theme “Lil Mas AhYard,” hosted by the North Leeward Sports and Culture Organization (NLSCO).
It is the second rural community to officially launch its carnival celebrations for the year, with activities scheduled to run from the May 9 launch to June 13, 2026.
Both children and adults from Chateaubelair, as well as patrons from other parts of the State all gathered to celebrate the beginning of the community’s carnival season. From early in the evening, the atmosphere was filled with excitement and cultural performances as drummers and steel pan players entertained the crowd with historic and traditional music that highlighted the rich heritage of carnival in North Leeward.
Patrons were also treated to performances by Maypole dancers, and children proudly displayed locally made costumes, embracing the creativity of the carnival culture. A domino competition also formed part of the evening’s activities, bringing together community members in friendly competition and entertainment.
