Man who killed police officer 10 years ago deemed unfit for trial

A MAN who on May 2, 2016 stabbed and killed Police Constable 602 Giovanni Charles has been deemed unfit to stand trial at the High Court due to psychiatric issues.

Maverick Joseph was 18-years-old back in 2016 when he was charged with murder in relation to the stabbing, in Belmont, of Constable Charles.

On the Monday in question, Constable Charles was manning the entrance at the Belmont Primary School fair, and had tried to get Joseph, who had entered the fair without paying the EC$2 entrance fee, to leave.
