Duo remanded on murder charge, woman pleads not guilty to drugs possession
TWO LAYOU RESIDENTS have been charged with conspiring to murder, and murdering a teenager from the same town by shooting him about his body.
Rosia John, 46 and Augustus Matthews, 22, appeared at the Serious Offences Court before Chief Magistrate Colin John on April 17, where they were charged that between April 10 and 13, 2026 at Buccament Bay with malice aforethought caused the death of Perrance Matthews of Layou by an unlawful act; and that within the same time period at Layou, they agreed with others that a course of conduct shall be pursued which, if the agreement is carried out in accordance with their intention, will amount to the commission of the offence of murder on Perrance Matthews of Layou.
These matters were laid indictably so the two were not required to enter a plea. Chief Magistrate Colin John, informed the accused that bail was not open to them. They were then remanded in custody and the matters were adjourned to April 30, 2026.
