SVG missed out on $US 1-billion in CBI money, says PMFriday
THE NEW DEMOCRATIC PARTY (NDP) administration has concluded that St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) missed out on at $US 1-billion over the last ten years due to the lack of a Citizenship by Investment (CBI) programme.
Prime Minister Dr. Godwin Friday made that pronouncement on HOT 97.1 FM’s AM Mayhem radio programme on Friday April 10, 2026.
“Listen, I have spoken, now that I am in the Prime Minister’s club so to speak, I get to talk to people in the region who have these programmes, and they’re looking at us, let’s say ‘boy, you know, what an opportunity you guys miss’… “You know, there’s some people there. They stand on the mountain and they shout louder than everybody and some people believed it, and we lost out as a consequence,” Dr. Friday alluding to the Unity Labour Party (ULP) administration’s decision to stay clear of a CBI programme.
The prime minister said that he questioned one of his counterparts in the region on the CBI and was told a figure of US$200 million a year was made in their country.
