Daylight bloodletting continued over weekend
THREEVIOLENT DEATHS over the weekend took the homicide count in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) to 13 for 2026, seven more than it was at this point in 2025.
The bloody weekend started on Friday April 10 at approximately 4:00 p.m. in the Stoney Grounds area when three gunmen pounced on Layou residents Enrique “Shebu” John, 29, and his friend Raheem “Bag ah Shots” Guy, 22, killing them in the full view of closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV) and members of the public.
When the gunfire died down in the usually busy area of Stoney Grounds, John lay dead in a doorway of a nearby business while Guy was seen bleeding on the side walk next to the Russell’s shopping complex. He appeared to have been shot in the head and as his blood painted the area red, people recorded the murder scene and shared it on social media showing John curled up dead.
John is no stranger to the media and the police. At the time of his death, he was on bail in relation to two separate attempted murders, and other charges, including robbery, firearm and ammunition possession.
In his first attempted murder charge, John and five individuals, Erasto Dasilva, Lemar “Chak” Isaacs, Esroy “Pirate” Jeffers, Rakiesha “Bim Bim” Joseph, and Sharome Dopwell were charged in connection with the July 16, 2024, foiled armed robbery at the Government Employees Cooperative Credit Union’s (GECCU) branch in South Rivers.
