Makaila Kydd wins TVET public speaking
THE GEORGETOWN Technical Institute (GTI), came out on top in a public speaking competition held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, as part of month-long activities to highlight Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
Makaila Kydd did her institution proud when she bested competitors from four other institutes to take first place.
Spear headed by the Skills Development Agency (SSDA), the competition, held at the Methodist Church Hall, also received support from the Ministry of Education; the Ministry of Tourism; and the General Employees Co-operative Credit Union Ltd. (GECCU).
Participants from the five Technical Institutes across the state participated in the competition, speaking on the topic: ‘TVET as a catalyst for economic growth and development’.
