No rent for Union Island vendors until January

In an effort to ensure that vendors on Union Island fully recover from the setbacks caused by Hurricane Beryl, the government has decided to waive vending fees until January, 2026, for people who have been assigned stalls and shops at the new ferry terminal and market in Clifton.

This was announced last Saturday, October, 11,2025 during the official opening of the ferry terminal and market which was built through a collaboration with British businessman Ian Wace, his Gumbolimbo Group, and the government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).

Minister of Urban Development, Energy, Seaports, Grenadines Affairs and Local Government, Senator Benarva Browne said the no rent period will help vendors recover and reinvest in their businesses.
