Relatives of the Sharpes, Chateaubelair woman suspect she was attacked
Fleur Glasgow, a 50-year-old resident of Sharpes, Chateaubelair, said to have a mental condition, was discovered unconscious at the back of her home on Monday, December 9, 2024, and, her family members are entertaining the idea that she may have been attacked, but are awaiting the details of a medical report to verify this. They think that if she was in fact attacked, it may have taken place on Saturday December 7, or Sunday December 8, 2024.
One of Glasgow’s female relatives said a group of children on their way to school alerted persons to an unconscious Glasgow on Monday.
She said the children reported that Glasgow was dead, but checks revealed that she was still breathing and she was rushed for medical attention.
“She is fighting for her life. She can’t speak…” the relative told SEARCHLIGHT on Tuesday, while standing a few feet away from the area in Rose Place where a man had just been shot in the leg.
She said she thinks her relative may have been sexually assaulted and struck a very hard blow by her assailant. Admitting that this is speculation, the woman stressed that the way Glasgow was found gives strength to the assumption and she is hoping the medical findings can help ascertain what happened.
The woman said sexual attacks on her relative, who showed signs of mental illness from a young age and was on medication, are not new as there are sexual predators in the community who prey on the mentally ill.
“We want to know what happened to her. It looked as if she was struck very hard…,” the woman said, while adding that medical personnel at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH) have promised to do a thorough check, including for signs of sexual assault.
The relative pointed out that because the medical checks had not been completed as yet means that the police cannot yet be notified.
