Student and vendor killed in shooting at Pole Yard

A secondary school student and a vendor were killed, and a third male wounded, on Saturday night in the West St George community of Pole Yard.

Dead from bullets are 17-year-old third form student of the St Vincent Grammar School (SVGS) Jason St. Rose and 30-year-old vendor Jomarl John.

Both males are residents of Pole Yard. A third resident was shot but did not die and is recovering at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH).

The shooting took place while the males were at a shop in the area.

The murder count for St Vincent and the Grenadines for 2024 now stands at 28.

[[UPDATED AT 8:26 pm on July 16, 2024 to correct the age of Jason St. Rose at the time of his death.]]
