Former Bangladesh captain pleased with Arnos Vale pitch

Veteran Bangladesh player and former captain, Shakib Al Hasan has rated the pitch at the Arnos Vale Cricket Ground, as “decent.”

Speaking at the post-match press conference following his country’s 25-run victory over Netherlands yesterday, June 13, 2024, Shakib said, “Overall the wicket…I think it played really well. A decent wicket where there is everything for everyone. If you bowl well, there is something for you. If you look to score runs down the ground, there is value for your shot because the outfield is fast, so you can score runs as well when you are safe. I thought overall it was a very good pitch for a T/20 game.”

Vincentian, Ricky Grant, who is associated with the First Division Radcliffe Cricket Club was of similar view as Shakib. Taking in the action from the Party Mound, Grant who manages one of the Radcliffe teams, told SEARCHLIGHT that he also liked the atmosphere and was pleased with the way the pitch played. It lived up to expectations, he said. The provision of completely new playing surfaces was part of the work done to bring the Arnos Vale Cricket Stadium up to the required standard to host matches in the ICC Men’s T/20 Cricket Tournament. Work was also done on pitches at Arnos Vale 2 and the Sion Hill Playing Field which are used as practise surfaces for the tournament.
