Winning numbers came in a dream, says Lotto Jackpot winner

Celecia Nanton dreamed a series of numbers and now four years later, that dream has led to a $62,000 payout in the Lotto Jackpot.

The mother of four was officially presented with her winnings on Tuesday February, 6, at the National Lotteries Authority (NLA) Headquarters in Kingstown.

Nanton explained that the lucky numbers – 1, 7, 11, 17 and 19 came to her while she was asleep and for four consecutive years she consistently played that series of numbers.

The Fountain resident said she experienced difficult financial circumstances supporting her children while working as a cleaner and described the win as a much needed “comeback”.

NLA General Manager, McGregor Sealey, congratulated the country’s second Jackpot winner for 2024 and urged her to use the money as an investment into her children’s education.

“I want to congratulate you on your winnings. I think it is a really nice way to start the new year and as I always say to the others, make sure you spend this money wisely. I think this will be setting a strong foundation for your children.”

Nanton agreed and pledged that she would use the winning money to advance her older children’s education, one of whom attends the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College, while a second child is slated to commence studies this year.

“This has been a comeback concerning my children education because most of the time, there were some challenging days for me. Whatever God leads me to do I am going to do.”

Nanton also said she feels pleased to know that she continued to play the lottery as it resulted in a big win.

“I am feeling happy, I am proud of myself. I have been playing these numbers over four years now. When it finally come, I feel so happy. Thanks to everyone who supported me and told me not to give up on this number.”

Product Development Officer of the NLA, Anthony Dennie, disclosed that there is presently an unclaimed $430,000 jackpot which was drawn on January 19, 2024 and sold from an agent in Biabou.

Dennie said that ticket holders have 180 days to claim outstanding winnings.
