Child seen being suffocated on video placed into protective care, police investigate

A little girl who was seen in a video being suffocated by an apparent adult has been placed into protective custody and the police have instituted an investigation into the matter.

The police said in a release that the Criminal Investigations Department has opened a probe into “a very disturbing video” that has been making the rounds on social media.

In its release, the police said the video shows a minor (a female) being physically abused and suffocated by someone who sounds like an adult female.

The police said the child was removed from the home by social services and placed into protective custody where she will receive the necessary treatment and care needed. The police said further that they are in the process of apprehending the suspect and are asking anyone with information which can assist in the investigation to call 999/911 or contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 1-784-457-1211 ext. 483, any police officer with whom you are comfortable speaking, or the police station nearest to you. All information received would be treated confidentially, the release states.
