One-armed man jailed for sexual assault of child

A man with one arm who abducted and forced a 10 year old child to perform oral sex on him was jailed for a total of six years and nine months.

Dion Baptiste, 37, was arrested on May 27, 2023, and slapped with four charges stemming from offences related to harassment of the young girl. The incident was captured on video which went viral.

When Baptiste appeared at the Family Court on May 30, the unemployed man pleaded guilty to abduction, indecent assault and two counts of child pornography under the Cybercrimes Act.

He was since remanded at His Majesty’s Prison, and on Monday, July 17, was sentenced by the Family Court.

Baptiste was sentenced to two years and nine months in connection with the charges for abduction and indecent assault; while on the two counts of child pornography, he received a four year custodial sentence.

The sentences will run consecutively. This means that Baptiste will begin to serve his four year sentence after he has served time for abduction and indecent assault.
