Two records broken at joint SJCK and SMSS Athletics Meet

Two records were broken when the St Joseph’s Convent (Kingstown), and St. Martin’s Secondary School held their joint Athletics Meet last Friday, February 17, at the Sir Vincent Beache Athletic track.

J’mar Saunders of Brother Robert House ran a time of 52:05 seconds to set a new Senior 400-metre record, erasing the old mark of 52:08 seconds.

Then the quartet of Gerod Revierre, Khalid Lewis, Eto’ Samuel, and Joel Matthews of Justin House erased the old 4×100 metre relay record of 47:14 seconds establishing a new Intermediate record time of 47:07 seconds.

In the individual category, the St Martin’s Secondary Junior champion is Kevin Williams of Justin House who amassed 28 points; the Intermediate champion is Joshua Prescott also of
Justin House with 32 points; while the Senior champion is J’mar Saunders of Brother Robert House with 26 points.

Saunders broke the 400m record of 52:08 to establish a new record of 52:05.

At the end of all the effort on the track, Justin House emerged the 2023 St. Martin’s Secondary School Inter-house Athletics Champion with a total of 683 points, followed in second place by Tim Daisy House with 667 points; Verbeke House placed third with 642 points; and Brother Robert House took the fourth spot with 534 points.

Meanwhile Our Lady House was crowned the St. Joseph Convent (Kingstown) 2023 Inter-house Athletic Champions with a total of 577 points, followed in second place by St. Joseph House with 507 points; Blessed Annmarie House, third, with 499 points; and St. Vincent House, fourth with 448 points.

In the Individual category, Davia Simmons of Blessed Annmarie House was named the 2023 Junior champion with 17 points; Azumie Quow of St. Joseph’s House with 21 points took the Intermediate champion title; and Reonique Bacchus of Our Lady House was crowned the Senior champion with 42 points.

Later that same day, February 17, 2023, at the Victoria Park, Findlay House, with a total of 1,162 points, became the Campden Park Secondary School’s 2023 Inter-house Athletic Champions, followed in second place by Williams House with 1,112 points; Jack House was third with 978 points; and in fourth place was Anderson House with 863 points.

In the Individual category, Andrelene Bowens of Findlay House with a total of 44 points, emerged the Class 3 Girls champion; the Class 3 Boys champion is Glemroy Baptiste of Williams House with 48 points; Class 2 Girls champion is Aaliya Samuel of Findlay House with 43 points. The Class 2 Boys joint champions are Imani Miller of Williams House and Jeavon Boyde of Jack House, each with 47 points; Class 1 Girls champion is Ketonna Campbell of Williams House with 58 points; and Class 1 Boys champ, Jaheim Barker of Findlay House with 36 points.
