Coreas Hazells Inc reports theft of building materials valued over $185,000

The investigation into the theft of EC$185,246.37 worth of building materials, the property of Coreas Hazells Incorporated, is continuing, and so far, no one has been charged in relation to the heist.
According to a police report, between 8 a.m. on January 2, 2018 and 10 a.m. on January 18, 2018 at Diamond, some unknown person(s) stole 8,650 sacks of cement valued at EC$162,101, a quantity of lumber valued EC$18,103, and 308 lengths of half inch steel valued EC$5,000.
The report of theft was made on July 30 at 10 a.m. by 47-year-old Maxwell Joseph, an Inventory Analyst of Twenty Hill, Vermont.
The building materials were removed from Coreas’ Diamond Woods location. Coreas had set up Diamond Woods in 2010 on the Windward Highway.
When contacted on Wednesday, Division Manager Building Supplies at Coreas, Brian George, said that he was not in a position to comment extensively on the missing materials.
He however confirmed that quantities of cement, lumber and steel are missing, and stated that the matter is being investigated by the police.
Police are urging anyone with information to contact the officer in charge of the Criminal Investigations Department at 1784-456-1810.
In an unrelated incident, three men were charged with stealing over $300,000 worth of materials from Kendra’s Aluminium Ltd.
Devon Jack, Conroy Trimmingham and Philbert Regis appeared at the Serious Offences Court last Monday, and were charged that they did, between January 1, 2014, and March 26, 2018, in Campden Park, steal aluminium windows and door parts worth $320,000, the property of Kendra’s Aluminium Ltd.
The men were given bail in the sum of $30,000 each, with one surety each, and an order made for their identification cards, travel documents and driver’s licenses to be surrendered.
Jack, a Layou resident, Trimmingham, from Calder, and Regis of Redemption Sharpes, were ordered to report to the police station closest to them, three times per week.
They are expected back in court on September 10.
