Gunmen wore ‘vendetta masks‘ during Diamond shooting

The gunmen who shot up the Road Side Bar at Diamond last Saturday all wore what has been described as “vendetta masks”.

So said Jolanni Wales, a resident of the area.

The vendetta mask is a face mask based on the “V for Vendetta” movie and is a stylized depiction of Guy Fawkes, the best-known member of the Gunpowder Plot of November 5, 1605.

On Monday, Wales told SEARCHLIGHT that last Saturday, around 9 p.m., he and three other men were sitting under a shed adjoining the bar when they saw a white Toyota Sprinter pass the shop, turn around and come back to the shop.

He said they did not pay attention to the car, as vehicles always do that in the area. Wales said when the vehicle came back, he saw a masked man, with what appeared to be a 9 mm handgun, jump out and start shooting.

Two other doors then opened and two more masked men jumped out carrying what appeared to be the same type of weapon.

He said a fourth man, carrying a shotgun, also alighted from the vehicle.

“…As the man reach by the door, the man shoot Bullo, bam. I have to just do so, skate over the wall dey so with my one foot (he sprained his other leg playing soccer) and dem man bussing shot all behind here, boy if you see how…a man fly over one them banana tree dey all thing,” recalled Wales who said that he lay down in the bushes and hid himself.

“Is bare vendetta mask man come dey,” said Wales who opined that St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) is quickly becoming like Trinidad and Tobago, if gunmen are now shooting innocent people.

He opined that innocent people were shot because the gunmen did not find who they came for.

A police source said that the men stormed the shop looking for Richard “Shrek” McFee.

Wales said he is upset because he could have been killed for no reason at all.

He said as the men made good their escape, they kept shooting, probably to clear the way.

The shooting left multiple, large holes on the walls inside and outside the shop.

Eight persons were shot and taken to hospital. On Monday one of the gunshot victims, Gregory Abraham, 33, succumbed to his injuries.
