SVG records bloody month of September
September 2017 has gone down in Vincentian history as one of the bloodiest months ever.
This monthâs bloodletting began on Friday, September 1, when South Rivers resident Conliffe Williamsâs body was discovered at Upper Richmond Hill around 10:10 p.m. in a car with gunshot and other wounds.
Then, on Sunday, September 3, at Fair Hall, Simonia DaSilva was stabbed to death; on Friday, September 15, Kesroy King of Sion Hill was attacked on Higginson Street in Kingstown and hacked to death at around 8:30 a.m.
Then, beginning Thursday, September 21, the country recorded eight killings in six days, starting with the shooting of 78-year-old Lionel Ashes of Edinboro, who died four days after he was shot.
On Friday night, September 22, Raphael âSnakyâ OâNeil was shot and killed in Vermont. On that same night, Andrew âShooterâ Roberts of Ottley Hall was killed during a botched kidnapping.
Keisha Melville was also killed last Saturday. She was shot in the head at Murrayâs Village. Ezekiel Robin was wounded by gunshots while driving his car in Fairhall, but survived.
Then, at around 9 p.m. last Monday, in an area of Vermont known as Francois, police responded to a call and on arrival found 35-year-old labourer Irone âG Dogâ Bascombe dead in the street and Jason Stephens, alias Godfred Straker, seriously wounded by a gunshot to the chest.
Also on Monday, Roland Cunningham, a 56-year-old security guard, was killed at his home in Fairbaine Pasture.
The killing spree wasnât done yet.
On Tuesday, Wendel âGrindyâ OâNeil was gunned down in a brazen daylight shooting, in which his girlfriend, Jihan Browne, was wounded. Kelvin Isaac was also wounded in that incident.
Police are also investigating the death of 50-year-old Michael âBullyâ Edwards, who was found on Wednesday, lying in the road in an area of Lowmans Leeward known as Spring.
SEARCHLIGHT spoke to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in charge of crime Frankie Joseph, who sent a stern warning to criminals.
âWe are relentless in this fight and we want to tell the criminals that we are not going to stop, we are not going to ease up, we are coming full blast,â stated ACP Joseph on Thursday from his office at the Central Police Station.
He is urging persons with information on any of these homicides to call any police station. ACP Joseph said that the information will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
He noted also that persons may call him personally at 456-1339 or 496-5233 anytime of the day or night.
