PM Gonsalves congratulates Donald Trump on winning US elections

Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves has, on behalf of the Government and people of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), congratulated president-elect of the United States Donald Trump on his election as the 45th President of the United States of America.

“President-elect Trump has personal knowledge of SVG, and its leadership, through his former business association with the resort on the island of Canouan. We believe that he remembers our country with much affection.

“St Vincent and the Grenadines and the United States of America enjoy excellent bi-lateral relations, and our respective countries work closely with each other in several hemispheric and international organisations. {{more}}More importantly, the people of St Vincent and the Grenadines and the United States of America have historical bonds of friendship, family, migration, trade, commerce, sports and culture. Above all, we share a bundle of fundamental values which informs our systems of democracy, freedom, and justice.

We feel sure that under the Presidency of Donald J Trump that the ties between our two countries and peoples are likely to strengthen even further. So, too, would the links between the USA and our regional organisations, including the Reginal Security System (RSS), the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
