Petit Bordel duo charged with attempted robbery, wounding, theft

Two Petit Bordel men have been charged with the attempted robbery of a sea vessel and the wounding of its captain, which occurred last Monday.

The men, Ezra Harry and Simeon Francois appeared before the Serious Offences Court yesterday, charged with attempted robbery, unlawful and maliciously wounding Andri Khoklou, a Frenchman and stealing one wooden fiberglass rowboat from Everrod Young of Petit Bordel.

The duo was not allowed to enter a plea, as the matter is indictable.{{more}}

The Crown made no objection to their bail, but however, asked that the men be ordered to surrender their travel documents, report to the nearest police station and because the incident allegedly happened at night, the Crown asked that a curfew be imposed.

As a result, Harry and Francois were offered composite bail in the sum of $40,000 with one surety. They are also to report to the Chateaubelair Police Station twice a week.

The duo was also ordered to surrender all travel documents and stop notices are placed at all ports of entry.

Both Harry and Francois must receive the expressed permission of the Serious Offences Court or a higher court to leave the state and a curfew was imposed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

They would reappear before the court on January 27, 2017.

SEARCHLIGHT reported on October 14 that Klokhlou sustained injuries to his right arm after he was attacked around 7:30 p.m. on Monday, October 10, 2016, while his yacht was moored in Chateaubelair Bay.

Kitrida, the 44-foot sailing vessel with home port St Barts, arrived at Chateaubelair from Bequia midday on Monday, with Khokhlou and his Vincentian friend Curtis.

Curtis told SEARCHLIGHT that while moored in the new location, they were attacked by three men, who boarded the yacht from a rowboat.

According to a police report, Khokhlou reported that three unknown men had entered his vessel as trespassers, with intent to commit theft and had chopped him on his right forearm with a cutlass.

Curtis said after the men had gone, they contacted the Coastguard, which arrived and brought them ashore.

A Petit Bordel fisherman, who had reported on Tuesday that his boat was missing, identified a small rowboat that was found by fishermen and brought to Fitz-Hughes Bay that morning as his own. According to the fishermen who found the boat, there was a cutlass on board the vessel when it was found.

Police believe that the abandoned boat was used in the foiled burglary of sailing yacht Kitrida, which departed Chateaubelair Tuesday evening. (AS)
