Good work from staff saves ET Joshua airport from flooding

Authorities at the ET Joshua airport seem to have finally found an effective way to reduce flooding at the airport during rainy weather.

While visiting the airport yesterday morning, SEARCHLIGHT noted several sand bags at the airport’s exit and along the entrance to the arrival and the departure areas.

What we didn’t see was a flooded airport, which is usually the case during times of torrential weather.{{more}}

One worker, who identified himself as Lawrence, explained that because they had lined the exit of the airport with sand bags, the water, instead of flowing down into the airport, went into the road.

He further explained that without the sandbags, the water would usually flow into the airport, which caused flooding.

“We didn’t have much water coming down here from … the gutter,” he said.

He noted that airport staff began their preparation to protect the airport at around three o’clock Wednesday afternoon.

SEARCHLIGHT’s attempts to get a statement from the officer in charge of the airport were unsuccessful. (CM)
