Coreas Food Mart reopens better, stronger – Manager

After being gutted by fire almost one year ago, Coreas Food Mart reopened its doors on Monday “better and stronger.”

“We burnt; we weren’t here for a year, but now we’re back, we’re even better and stronger,” store manager Karen Browne told SEARCHLIGHT on Wednesday.{{more}}

According to her, the store’s appearance has been significantly improved and a counter service meat shop and a pharmaceutical section have been added.

“The ambience is much, much better than it was prior to the fire,” said Browne.

She added that the store has increased its range of products and there have also been promotions that complement the Mini Mart’s opening.

Browne said because Coreas is the agent and distributor of a number of products, there was in-house sampling of a number of these products, including Chocolisto tea, BareFoot wine and pulled pork, over the past week.

The company has also introduced a trolley system to help customers transport their bags to the nearby bus terminal.

The store manager expressed thanks to customers for their support, adding that she is grateful to the store’s new customers also.

On August 16, 2015, days after a fire gutted the building that houses the supermarket, CEO of Coreas Distributors Jimmy Forde assured the more than 40 workers who were employed with Coreas Mini Mart that their jobs were secure.

On Wednesday, Browne confirmed that, with the exception of those who moved on or were transferred to different departments, all members of staff have returned to work.

“For that I would like to say special thanks to Mr Jimmy Forde and his team for having faith in us and allowing us to have back our jobs,” Browne said.(AS)
