Students make good use of second chance at Barrouallie Technical Institute

Students of the Barrouallie Technical Institute have proven again that once given the opportunity, persons can make good use of their second chances.

The Technical and Vocational Training Institute is one of four in St Vincent and the Grenadines that offers training in Caribbean Vocational Qualification Level One training in Electrical Installation,{{more}} Data Operations, Front Office Operations, Food and Beverage Service and Food Preparation.

The Institute operates under the auspices of the Ministry of Education.

Since last year, the institute has taken the initiative to send students to sit the CSEC English and CCSLC Mathematics and English examinations.

This is in keeping with its motto, “Training hands and minds, maximizing potential.”

This year, of the 13 students who sat CSEC English, seven gained passes with Grades 2 and 3. They are Losann Stephens, Tashica Samuel, Carl James, Imran John, Jannel Laborde Young, Kayanne Raime and Sydnesha Rocque.

Eight students gained competence in CCSLC English. They are Cheryl Daize, Morrissa Cuffy, Keliah Francois, Shandel Gibson, Samuel Hazlewood, Kevin Patrick, Leon Pierre and Orande Richardson.

Losann Stephens, Morrissa Cuffy, Keliah François, Samuel Hazelwood, Alicia Samuel, Cindy Ann Stephen and Katisha Toussaint gained Master in CCSLC Mathematics, while Tashica Samuel, Cheryl Daize, Shandel Gibson, and Leon Pierre were deemed competent.

The principal and staff wish to extend heartiest congratulations to all our successful students and encourage their prospective students to take advantage of the opportunity to learn a skill and help to make a difference in their lives and, by extension, the community.
