Vincentian killed in Trinidad at Carnival

Carlos Richardson, a 36-year-old Vincentian attending Carnival festivities in Trinidad, was on February 16, 2010, shot and killed.{{more}}

Police officers there are working on the theory that Richardson was a victim of a robbery. It is alleged that he was robbed and shot for the gold jewelry he was wearing. The only item the robbers left on Richardson was his gold watch.

The Trinidad Guardian reports that the incident occurred around 12.45 am. Police said North Eastern Division officers responded to a report that a body was seen lodged between a wall and a Lamp Post, off the Old Santa Cruz Road. On arrival, officers found Richardson with gunshot wounds to the chest and forehead.

Police there also believe that Richardson was shot as he attempted to flee his attackers by jumping a wall, but fell between the wall at a nearby house.

This is the second time in the space of one week that a Vincentian has been mortally wounded abroad. On February 9, Wedsley “Buff” Trimmingham, who resided in Nevis, had just said goodbye to a friend when he was gunned down.

Trimmingham, 31, is said to have sustained seven gunshot wounds to his back. He was pronounced dead on the spot.

Investigations are continuing in both matters.
