Teen arraigned in connection with shooting death of Golden Vale man

A teenager who was recently wanted by police in connection with a series of criminal offences has been charged in connection with one of this country’s latest murders. Just two days after a man was shot dead at Golden Vale, 18 year old Cole Oliver of Questelles/Golden Vale, appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, July 20, for arraignment. He therefore was not required to plea to the indictable charge of murder. Cole is charged that on July 18, at Golden Vale, with malice aforethought he caused the death of Kemon Orlando Roberts of Golden Vale by an unlawful act.

Olliver has been remanded into custody, and the matter is transferred to the Serious Offences Court for hearing on August 2,2023.

Roberts became the 29th homicide victim in this country after he was shot in his head on his way to work. The 28 year old succumbed to his injury moments after being shot.

Last month, a wanted bulletin was issued by the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVPF) for the defendant in relation to several offences.

He was later intercepted, and taken before the Serious Offences Court on June 26, to answer to these several charges. Oliver denied committing the offences of burglary; wounding; discharge of a firearm; and possession of a firearm without a license issued under the Firearms Act.

Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne, granted him bail with one surety. Oliver was ordered not to contact the virtual complainant and to report to the Questelles Police Station between 6:00 a.m and 6:00 p.m every Monday and Friday.
