‘Soups’ Alexander freed of attempted murder charge
Left to Right: Lionel ‘Gublar’ George & Lejah ‘Soups’ Alexander

‘Soups’ Alexander freed of attempted murder charge

Lionel ‘Gublar’ George and his girlfriend were shot and killed last month; and now the charges against the Glen man accused of an earlier attempt on George’s life have been dropped.

George, and, his significant other Denesia “Gazaden” Corridon were 28 and 23 years at the time of their deaths. The couple were shot and killed in the wee hours of the morning on Saturday, May 23, while they were reportedly sitting in a vehicle together.

Two gunmen were said to be responsible for the Arnos Vale incident, which killed Corridon on the spot, and injured George who later succumbed to his gunshot wounds at the hospital.

Corridon was a mother, businesswoman and controversial social media personality originally from Yambou; while George was from Rockies.

Last month was not the first time that the couple faced the barrel of a gun. On November 5, 2019, George was accompanying his girlfriend who was unpacking clothing for sale near Prescott’s shop in Middle Street, Kingstown. A man with a gun approached them from the direction of Gonsalves’ Liquor and fired multiple shots, some of which found their mark in George.

He was taken to the hospital and treated for injuries to the head. He spent time in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and, in the months following, had to seek leave from the court to travel abroad for medical treatment.

It was this matter which came up for hearing last Wednesday, June 3, at the Serious Offences Court (SOC).

Lejah ‘Soups’ Alexander who had been previously charged with the attempted murder of George was freed of this legal burden after the prosecution indicated they were withdrawing the charge.

Nevertheless, he was not free to go and had to return to the prisoner’s section.

Alexander still faces charges that he did, on April 1, 2020 at Questelles, have a Glock 40 pistol in his possession without a license, and that he did, by force, compel an individual to go from Questelles to Lowmans Leeward.

Bail was denied to him for these indictable charges read at the SOC on April 6.
