Baker charged in fatal stabbing of Rockies’ man

A 33-year-old has been charged with last Saturday’s murder of Rockies resident Zimroy ‘Junior’ Brackin, and, arising from the same incident, the attempted murder of Brackin’s friend.

Federick ‘Black’ Samuel, a baker of Dorsetshire Hill was taken into custody on Monday, and charged this Wednesday.

He was brought to the Mesopotamia Magistrate’s Court, which was sitting in Kingstown, and there it was put to him by Magistrate Bertie Pompey that he did, on October 19, with malice aforethought, cause the death of Zimroy ‘Junior’ Brackin by an unlawful act.

The accused was also charged that, on that same date, in Kingstown, he, with intent to murder Kimmarley Douglas of Rockies, did an act which was more than merely preparatory.

Brackin, 33 years of Rockies, died after succumbing to a single stab wound to his neck. One perspective is that the Rockies resident was breaking up a fight at the time that he received the fatal wound.

Douglas, a 31-year-old labourer, received multiple knife wounds to his back, but was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday.

The charges are laid indictably, so Samuel is not required to plea at this stage. The matters were transferred to the Serious Offences Court, and listed for Tuesday, October 29, in order for a date to be given for the start of a preliminary inquiry.
