Trio charged with cocaine possession

Thousands of grams of cocaine have allegedly been discovered in the possession of a Canadian and two Vincentians.

Jomodean Alexander, 21 years old of Dorsetshire Hill, Glenlyn Lee, 38, of Sion Hill/Walvaroo, and Lonnie Wilson, 46, of Toronto, Canada were taken before the Serious Offences Court yesterday.

Several charges were laid against them indictably. Firstly, all three were charged that they had 2,020g of cocaine in their possession on September 23 at Dorsetshire Hill, with intent to supply.

They were also charged with having this amount of cocaine in their possession for the purpose of drug trafficking.

Alexander and Lee were further charged that in the same place, on the same date, they had 2,364 g of cocaine with intent to supply to another, and for the purpose of drug trafficking. Another charge alleges that Alexander and Lee had a further 38g of cocaine in their possession with intent to supply, and yet another that they possessed 732g of cannabis with intent to supply it.

Defense attorney Grant Connell will represent the two Vincentian defendants, but Wilson is unrepresented. However, none of the accused were required to enter a plea at this stage.

Suitcases were brought to the court as exhibits, and Wilson is said to have been about to leave the country when he was picked up.

Reports are that cocaine was concealed inside of a suitcase, and another household item.

The Senior Prosecutor Adolphus Delpleshe did not object to bail for the Vincentians but noted that they considered the Canadian defendant to be a flight risk as he did not seem to have any ties to St Vincent and the Grenadines. However, he asked for a number of conditions to be attached to bail for the Vincentian duo.

Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne did not grant bail to Wilson, but allowed composite bail in the sum of $100,000 for Alexander and Lee.

The two must have a surety, and surrender their travel documents. Stop notices are in force against them and if they wish to travel for any reason they must seek the permission of the court.

Reporting conditions to the Central Police Station every week on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays were also attached.

All three will return to court on November 28.
