Toronto man charged for murder of Vincy woman
After almost five months, police in Toronto have charged Nicholas Johnson, 24, of Toronto, with the murder of Vincentian Virgil Kamal Jack-Jordan.
Johnson was arrested on January 11 and appeared in court last Friday, where he was remanded in custody to await his next court appearance.
Jack-Jordanâs body was found on Saturday, August 19, 2017 in North Yorkâs Derrydowns Park near Jane and Finch (Toronto) around 12:45 p.m. She is originally from Langley Park, a village on the Windward side of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).
Her body was discovered by a woman who frequents the park because of its solitude. The women found Jack slightly submerged in water and tried to render aid. A post mortem examination found Jack suffered multiple stab wounds. She was last seen at around 2:30 p.m. in the Jane and Finch area on Friday, August 18, 2017.
Soon after her murder, investigators said they found âa number of items of evidentiary valueâ they thought would assist in the investigation.
Susan Jack, the dead womanâs mother, told SEARCHLIGHT last August that Jack-Jordan was her fourth of nine children and had migrated in the 1990s, but came home in 2016, got married and was making plans for her husband to join her in Canada.
Jack-Jordan, also known as âWhite Girl,â was a nursing aide in her adopted homeland. She is a past student of the Georgetown Government School (GSS) and the St Josephâs Convent Kingstown (SJCK).(LC)
