Illegal driving lands man six-month prison sentence

If Olrick Bellingy does not pay a fine of $700 by August 3, 2017, he will spend six months in jail.

This was the penalty handed down by magistrate Rickie Burnett at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Monday, July 3, when Bellingy, a resident of Chester Cottage, was found guilty of three counts related to driving without a driver’s permit.

The 26-year-old was charged that on June 30, 2017, he drove motor vehicle P5232 without a valid driver’s permit and that he drove the vehicle without insurance and third party risk on June 30, 2017. The third charge was that he drove the black Rav 4 without the permission of the owner, Kyron Browne of Chester Cottage.(GHJ)
