Woman to stand trial for 2015 murder
Murder accused Ava Charles was ordered to stand trial at the next sitting of the High Court, for the December 12, 2015 murder of Josmond âCrabâ Charles/Huskinson.
The order was handed down on May 25, following a Preliminary Inquiry into Charlesâ murder.
The prosecution called 11 witnesses, including a young woman who witnessed the entire ordeal.
The accused woman, a 36-year-old Rose Place resident, was charged with Charles/Huskinsonâs murder on December 15, 2015 and was remanded to Her Majestyâs Prison after police questioned her and a young woman.
The young woman was later released, while Charles remained to face the charge.
Charles/Huskinson died at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH) on Monday, December 12, after being stabbed at Rose Place between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.
It is believed that the former Kingstown Anglican School teacher, who had no children, was stabbed in his chest in a dilapidated house he called home.
He was rushed to the MCMH by two of his friends, after they found him unconscious at the bottom of the stairs.
His death was recorded as the 35th homicide for 2016. (AS)
