Special witness to testify at Greaves PI

A special witness is expected to testify in three weeks when the Preliminary Inquiry (PI) into the murder of Sharleen Greaves continues.

Veron Primus, a Vermont resident, is charged with the November 2015 murder of the 33-year-old real estate agent.

He was remanded to prison April 21, 2016, pending the outcome of the inquiry, which will determine whether the Crown has demonstrated that it has enough evidence to commit him to trial at the High Court.

Twelve witnesses have so far taken the witness stand on behalf of the prosecution.

On Wednesday, Detective Constable 483 Edmond Ollivierre was recalled to the stand and questioned by Primus.

Shortly after, senior Prosecutor Adolphus Delpesche reminded the court that since the beginning of the PI, the Crown always made an application under the Witness Special Measures Act.

He said the process has already started, but the technology needed is not “up and running,” but should be ready in three weeks.

As a result, the matter was adjourned to June 27, 2017.
