Man remanded in custody for pointing firearm at his mother
A Redemption Sharpes woman is now in a state of fear after her son allegedly pointed a gun at her over the weekend.
Brian Samuel, also of Redemption Sharpes, has been remanded into police custody after being arrested on Saturday when police officers responded to a report made.
When he appeared before the Serious Offences Court yesterday, Samuel was charged that on March 4, 2017 at Redemption Sharpes he had in his possession one .25 automatic pistol serial number CU-747411 without a license issued under the Firearms Act.
He is further charged that on that same date and place he did assault Carlitha Williams of Redemption Sharpes with intent to cause bodily harm.
The Redemption Sharpes man pleaded not guilty to both charges, however, Prosecutor Elgin Richards objected to his bail.
According to Richards, Williams had indicated that she is in fear of her son and he (Richards) was of the opinion that Samuel would cause her further harm.
Samuel rebutted by telling the court that he has been gainfully employed for the past three or four months and if he is remanded he would lose his job,
In turn, Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne-Matthias said that while Samuel is innocent until proven guilty she couldnât turn a blind eye to the severity of the offences and the possible harm that may come to Williams.
She denied Samuelâs bail and ordered that he be remanded into custody until March 24, 2017 when the matter would be tried. (AS)
